Company History

BlackAvon Books was formed in 2009 to promote what is seen as the new wave in publishing - a wave that accepts and embraces technology and inexpensive distribution of information and writing generally.

Mission Statement

BlackAvon Books aims to play a role in taking publishing into the 21st Century, making the best use of technology as it exists and as it evolves.

Ownership

BlackAvon Books is owned and operated by Gerald Trites, a writer since 1969. Gerald has published fifteen books through conventional publishers, mostly of a technical business and information technology nature, but is now interested in exploring the world of self-published e-books. He has also published short stories in small literary journals and has served as co-editor of The Antigonish Review for several years. For more on Gerald, see his website at www.zorba.ca.

Gerald is interested in, and teaches, e-commerce. He is fascinated by the pending changes in the publications industry and this site is an attempt to employ independent digital publishing to the advantage of writers and the reading public.

BlackAvon Books has associate relationships with Amazon under which it can publish books in paper or Kindle format and have them listed on Amazon.com. This gives authors a broad-based launch of their books. Short stories will be combined into books as well, and can be published in the same manner or also sold in electronic format by download from this site. The publishing methods will continue to evolve as business develops.
